Zubereitung

Preheat the oven (180°C).

Cut the chocolate into large pieces with a knife.

Sieve the flour into a bowl, add the sugar and yeast.

Cut the butter into cubes and work into the dough with your fingertips.

Cut open the vanilla pod and scrape out the vanilla pulp with the back of a knife.

6.
Make a well in the bowl, whisk 1 egg with the milk in the center, add the vanilla pulp and work the dough quickly.

Add the chocolate chips.

8.
Flour the work surface and roll out the dough to a thickness of about 2 cm.

Use a circular cookie cutter to cut out circles with a diameter of 5-6 cm.

Place on a baking tray lined with baking paper and brush with a beaten egg using a brush.

Bake in a fan oven for approx. 18 minutes.
PS.
Traditionally, scones are eaten warm with butter, jam or honey, or with clotted cream (cream double). Fun fact: In England in particular, there is a tradition of spreading the scone first with jam and then with clotted cream. This leads to an ongoing debate about the correct way to eat a scone...
